About Imogen

Imogen Smid is an artist and illustrator residing in the Netherlands with her husband Maikel and Pug Smeagol.  Imogen was born in England but has lived most of her life in New Zealand and the Netherlands.  Living in three very different countries, and travelling to many different and wonderful places together with her parents Karl and Kirsten and brother Phoenix, now also with her husband Maikel, have been a key part of Imogen’s artistic inspiration and development.

For four years she studied at the AKV|St Joost Art Academy in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands.  There she earned her Bachelor of Design: Majoring in Illustration and with Minors in both Bookmaking and Printmaking.

Imogen loves creating colourful illustrations full of ancient symbols and stylised forms.  She’s happiest when creating art inspired by nature, legends and mythology.  With a broad interest in different art forms, she also loves creating textile products which she hand prints with hand carved lino stamps.  Imogen sells both her illustrations as a range of printed products and her hand crafted textile items online in her Webshop.

When not creating, or running her shop, Imogen loves playing board games, reading books and comics, watching films, cooking and baking and travelling to ancient and mystical places.
